Yuksom has few proper hotels, and Yuksum Residency is one of the more comfortable. It has a terrace and garden, rooms that are warm enough in winter with extra blankets, and a restaurant that feeds trekkers and families. The bazaar, Kathok Lake and the Norbugang coronation site are within walking distance, and the trail to Dubdi Monastery starts on the edge of the village.
We use it for value journeys that spend a night in Yuksom rather than rushing back to Pelling, and for trekkers who want one comfortable night after eight or nine days on the trail. Power cuts happen in Yuksom; ask about backup. Rates are a band, and Yuksom fills in October and April–May trekking weeks. Check current status before you travel.

Is Yuksum Residency close to the Goecha La trailhead?
Yes. The trail into Khangchendzonga National Park starts at the top of Yuksom village, a short walk or drive from the hotel. Trekkers often spend the night before the trek here after finishing permits, and return for a hot shower when they come down. Ask us to hold luggage you do not need on the trail.
How far is Yuksom from Pelling?
About 40 km and 2 hours by car via the Rimbi and Kanchenjunga waterfalls. Many people visit Yuksom as a day trip from Pelling, but staying a night lets you see Norbugang, Kathok Lake and Dubdi without hurrying, and puts you in place for Tashiding the next morning, about 19 km away.
Is there mobile network and ATM in Yuksom?
Mobile data works in the village on the main networks, though it can be patchy and fails in long power cuts. There may be an ATM in the bazaar, but it is not reliable, so carry enough cash from Gangtok, Jorethang or Gyalshing for homestays, porters and small shops. Card and UPI acceptance varies.
