The most polished hotel in Lachung, set on the slope above the village near the army camp, with valley-facing rooms, room heating, a restaurant and a spa. It is our pick when a couple or family wants real warmth and comfort before the cold Yumthang morning.
Yarlam sits in upper Lachung, above the main bazaar, and the terrace looks straight down the Lachung Chu valley towards the village and its monastery. The Mangan district administration lists it as a four-star property, and in a village where most hotels are simple concrete lodges, that difference shows: heated rooms, proper bedding, a restaurant that can manage North Indian, Chinese and continental plates, and staff used to early starts for Yumthang.
Expect to pay several times a budget room, and book well ahead for April–May rhododendron season and the October–November clear-weather weeks. Lachung sits at about 2,700 m, so even here we suggest a slow first evening, plenty of water and no alcohol on night one. Rates and inclusions change by season: check current status before you travel.
Why we book it
What it does well
- The warmest, quietest rooms in Lachung after a cold Yumthang day
- Terrace views over the valley and the Lachung monastery side
- Kitchen used to packing early breakfasts for Zero Point starts

Questions travellers ask
Questions about Yarlam Resort
Is Yarlam Resort worth the extra cost in Lachung?
If you feel the cold, are travelling with older parents or want one night of real comfort, yes. Lachung nights drop below zero from December to February and stay cold most of the year. Budget lodges often rely on one blanket and a plug-in heater. Yarlam is warmer, quieter and better run. For hardy travellers on a tight budget, a family homestay at a fifth of the price is fine.
Can we book Yarlam inside a North Sikkim package?
Yes. Most travellers reach Lachung on a 2-night or 3-night North Sikkim package, because permits and vehicles must go through Sikkim Tourism-registered agents. Ask us for a comfort or premium package and we will quote Yarlam with your car, permits and meals. The hotel upgrade usually adds ₹12,000–20,000 per couple over a budget package for two nights, depending on season.
Does Yarlam Resort have heating and hot water?
Guests and listings describe heated rooms, bed warmers and hot water, which is what you are paying for in Lachung. Power cuts do happen across North Sikkim, and the best hotels run generators. Carry a warm layer for the room anyway, and ask at check-in what time hot water is strongest, since early-morning Yumthang starts can coincide with the morning rush.
