Short answer

A long-running, family-feel guest house on Bhanu Path, just below the Secretariat road and about 10 minutes on foot from MG Marg. Quiet garden, simple rooms, and a good base for travellers who want central Gangtok without the noise of the market lanes.

Mintokling sits on Bhanu Path off Secretariat Road, a short uphill walk from MG Marg and Paljor Stadium. That location is the main reason we book it: you can walk to dinner, to the ropeway station at Tashiling and to the Sunday haat at Lal Bazaar without needing a taxi for every hop. The building is set back in a small garden, so nights are quieter than on the hotel strips near the taxi stands.

Rooms are plain and clean rather than fancy, with a choice of standard, superior and suite categories. Expect hot water, Wi-Fi and a simple breakfast. Parking is on site, which matters in Gangtok, where most central hotels have none. It suits budget couples, solo travellers and small families who will be out sightseeing all day and only need a reliable bed.

Why we book it

What it does well

  • Walkable to MG Marg, the ropeway and Lal Bazaar
  • Garden setting, quieter than the market-side hotels
  • On-site parking, rare in central Gangtok

Questions travellers ask

Questions about Mintokling Guest House

How far is Mintokling Guest House from MG Marg?

It is roughly 600–800 metres from MG Marg along Bhanu Path and Secretariat Road, about a 10-minute walk, with a short climb on the way back. Taxis wait at the nearby junction if you are carrying shopping or walking late. The ropeway's top station at Tashiling, beside the Secretariat, is also within walking distance.

Is Mintokling suitable for families with children?

Yes, for families who want a simple, quiet base. Rooms take two adults and one child, and the garden gives children some space. It has no pool, play area or lift, so families with very young children or older relatives who struggle with steps should ask us about room location before booking.

Can we book Tsomgo and Nathu La trips from Mintokling?

Yes. Like most Gangtok hotels, the front desk can connect you with registered taxi operators who arrange the Tsomgo and Baba Mandir permit a day ahead. If you book through us, we arrange the permit, car and driver and pick you up from the guest house gate. Check current status before you travel.
