A long-running Yuksom hotel popular with trekkers and families, which can help arrange trekking equipment. A good-value, practical base for Norbugang, Dubdi and the start of the Goecha La trail.
Hotel Tashigang has been a fixture of Yuksom for many years and appears in most travel guides to the village. It is practical rather than fancy: clean rooms, hot water, a dining room and staff used to trekkers' early starts. The hotel can help arrange or point you to trekking equipment, which matters in a village where most trips into Khangchendzonga National Park begin.
We book it for value journeys and for trekkers who want a hotel rather than a homestay. From here Norbugang, Kathok Lake and the Dubdi trail are walkable. Rates are a band and rise in trekking season. Remember that trekking in Sikkim now needs a registered agency and a guide, so the hotel cannot sell you a solo permit. Check current status before you travel.

Questions travellers ask
Questions about Hotel Tashigang, Yuksom
Can Hotel Tashigang arrange a Goecha La trek?
The hotel can help with equipment and local advice, but the trek itself must go through a registered trekking agency with a licensed guide, who handles the Khangchendzonga National Park permit at Yuksom. We can arrange the trek with a registered local partner and book your nights at the hotel before and after. Check current status before you travel.
How much does a room at Hotel Tashigang cost?
Indicatively ₹2,500–4,500 a room a night depending on room type and season, often with breakfast. It is busiest in October–November and April–May when trekking groups pass through. Winter and monsoon rates are lower. The ₹50 per person Sikkim tourist fee is collected at check-in.
Is Yuksom cold at night?
At about 1,780 m, Yuksom drops to around 3–6 °C on winter nights from December to February and stays mild, around 12–16 °C, on summer nights. Rooms are not centrally heated, so ask for an extra blanket or a heater in winter. Carry a fleece in every season, as evenings cool quickly after sunset.
