Cherry Resort began life as the state-run Yatri Niwas at Temi and was later leased out to a private operator, which is why it is the only proper resort right inside the estate. Almost every room faces tea: rows of bushes running down the hill, cherry trees along the factory road, and on clear days the Kangchenjunga range across the valley. The restaurant serves Indian and Sikkimese food and, of course, Temi tea.
We use Cherry Resort for families and couples who want to wake up in the garden and walk the estate before the day's visitors arrive from Namchi and Ravangla. Rooms are comfortable rather than plush. Book early for November, when the cherry blossom is out and the state's Cherry Tea Festival fills the area.
Why we book it
What it does well
- Rooms inside the Temi tea estate with valley views
- Early-morning walks on estate paths before day visitors
- Good base in cherry-blossom season (November)

Questions travellers ask
Questions about Cherry Resort, Temi
Is Cherry Resort actually inside Temi Tea Garden?
Yes. The resort stands within the estate on land owned by the Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation, and is now run by a private lessee. You can walk straight onto the estate paths and down towards the factory. The estate itself is run by the state government, so follow plucking-area rules and ask before entering the factory.
When is the best time to stay at Cherry Resort?
October to early December and March to May. November brings cherry blossom along the estate road and the state's Cherry Tea Festival, held most years since 2018. Spring is good for first-flush plucking. June to August is wet and views are often lost in cloud, though the bushes are at their greenest.
How do we reach Cherry Resort from Gangtok?
By private car it is roughly 50–55 km and 2.5–3 hours via Singtam and Tarku. From Ravangla it is under an hour, and from Namchi about 1.5 hours. There is no reliable direct shared jeep to the resort gate, so most guests come by car. Check current status before you travel during the monsoon.
