Yangang lies at about 1,500 m on the eastern flank of the Maenam ridge, roughly 30–40 minutes by car from Ravangla. It is a mixed village of Lepcha, Bhutia and Nepali families, with a Lepcha monastery, a Gurung monastery and fields of maize, ginger and cardamom. The state has run training for rural homestays here under a central MSME programme, and several homes now take guests.
A Yangang homestay suits walkers and people curious about village life. Hosts can point you to Neya Khola falls, the village monasteries and the forest trail towards Bhaleydhunga, the rock on Maenam's south face. Facilities are basic but clean; hot water may come by bucket. We match guests to homes we know and brief hosts on dietary needs beforehand.

Questions travellers ask
Questions about Yangang village homestays
Where exactly is Yangang?
Yangang is in Namchi district (South Sikkim), below Maenam hill and north-east of Ravangla. By car it is about 30–40 minutes from Ravangla and around 3 hours from Gangtok. Local shared jeeps link Yangang with Ravangla and Singtam, mostly in the morning and early afternoon. Check current status before you travel.
Can we walk to Bhaleydhunga from Yangang?
The Maenam ridge and the Bhaleydhunga rock are above Yangang and are usually approached on a long forest day walk with a local guide. It is steep, can be muddy and is best done October to April. A ropeway and skywalk have been proposed for Bhaleydhunga but are not open; do not plan around them.
Do Yangang homestays have Wi-Fi?
Some homes have Wi-Fi or decent 4G, many do not, and power cuts happen in storms. Treat a night here as offline time and download maps beforehand. Carry a torch and a power bank. If you need to work online, stay in Ravangla and visit Yangang as a day trip instead.
