The Bada Bungalow is one of the old mission buildings that predate the tea estate, which the Chogyal's government founded in 1969. It was badly damaged in the 2011 Sikkim earthquake and later restored, keeping its colonial-era lines, verandah and fireplaces. Newer cottages built in a matching style stand around it. The estate is run by the Sikkim government; the bungalow is managed by Eco Adventure Resorts.
We book it for premium trips and special occasions: tea tastings, walks with estate staff, slow breakfasts on the verandah with Kangchenjunga across the valley. Rates are high by local standards and usually include meals. Rooms in the old bungalow have the most atmosphere; cottages have more space and privacy.

Questions travellers ask
Questions about The Temi Bungalow (Eco Adventure Resorts)
How old is the Temi Bungalow?
The Bada Bungalow is one of the missionary-era buildings on the Temi slope, put up long before the tea estate was founded in 1969. Published accounts date it to the late 1800s; we treat the exact year as uncertain. It was damaged in the 2011 earthquake and restored before reopening as a heritage stay.
Who runs the Temi Bungalow?
The tea estate belongs to the Government of Sikkim. The bungalow and its cottages are managed by Eco Adventure Resorts, a private hospitality operator. That is why the stay feels more like a small boutique hotel than a government guest house, with prices to match.
Is the Temi Bungalow worth the price?
If you value atmosphere, quiet and tea, yes. You get the estate largely to yourself in the early morning, meals included and a building with real history. If you only want a clean room near Temi, Cherry Resort costs roughly a third as much. We often split a trip: one night here, the rest at value hotels.
