Taj Guras Kutir opened on 25 September 2023 in the forest at Pangthang, above Gangtok on the road north, roughly 20 minutes' drive from the centre. Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) built 69 keys across about 14 acres, with architecture that borrows from Sikkimese buildings: sloping roofs, carved and painted wood and local stone. Guras is the Nepali word for rhododendron, Sikkim's state tree, which flowers across these hills in spring.
Rooms face the forest or the Kangchenjunga range, and the resort has a spa and several dining options. Pangthang is cooler and quieter than town, and close to Tashi View Point and Hanuman Tok. As with any resort outside Gangtok, plan a car for evenings on MG Marg. It is the top choice for couples and families who want premium comfort.

Where is Taj Guras Kutir in Gangtok?
It is in the Pangthang forest area, above Gangtok on the road towards North Sikkim, about 20 minutes' drive from the town centre. Tashi View Point and Hanuman Tok are close by. A taxi into MG Marg costs about ₹600–900 each way, and the resort can arrange cars.

IHCL opened Taj Guras Kutir Resort & Spa on 25 September 2023. It has 69 rooms, suites and villas across roughly 14 acres. Because it is new, rooms and facilities are in very good condition, and rates are among the highest in Gangtok, especially in October and from April to early June.
Is Taj Guras Kutir worth it compared with hotels in town?
It is worth it if the stay itself is part of the holiday: forest setting, views, spa and Taj service. If you plan to spend evenings on MG Marg and want to walk everywhere, a central hotel such as Elgin Nor-Khill or Chumbi Residency is more practical and costs much less.
