An established mid-range hotel on Paljor Stadium Road, a few minutes' walk from MG Marg, decorated in a traditional Tibetan style. Suites and deluxe rooms face the valley and, on clear days, Kangchenjunga. A dependable choice for families who want central Gangtok with a lift and a restaurant.
Hotel Tibet stands on Paljor Stadium Road, the busy road that runs below MG Marg, so you can be on the promenade in five minutes and at the taxi stands even sooner. It has been a Gangtok fixture for decades, with Tibetan carpets, painted pillars and thangka-style decoration throughout, and a traditional-style hall used for meetings and family events.
The valley-side suites and deluxe rooms are worth the small extra: on clear mornings from October to March they look across to the Kangchenjunga range. The restaurant covers Tibetan, Indian and Chinese dishes. Road-side rooms can hear traffic until late evening, so ask for the valley side. It suits families and older travellers who want a central, straightforward hotel.

Questions travellers ask
Questions about Hotel Tibet
Is Hotel Tibet in the centre of Gangtok?
Yes. It is on Paljor Stadium Road, just below MG Marg, about a five-minute walk from the promenade. Restaurants, banks, the taxi stands and Lal Bazaar are all close. That makes it practical for families who do not want to depend on taxis for every short trip in town.
Which rooms at Hotel Tibet have mountain views?
The suites and deluxe rooms on the valley side have the views, including Kangchenjunga on clear days between October and March. Road-side rooms are cheaper and can be noisier in the evening. When we book, we request valley-side rooms, but final allocation is the hotel's decision on arrival.
Is Hotel Tibet a good base for Tsomgo Lake and Nathu La?
Yes. Tsomgo cars leave from central Gangtok early in the morning, and Paljor Stadium Road is an easy pickup point. Permits are arranged a day ahead through registered agents with your ID and photos. Nathu La is for Indian nationals only and usually closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Check current status before you travel.
