Ghonday sits on the slope between Kaluk and Rinchenpong, and is one of the stays the Soreng district website lists for visitors. Rooms are spread across the hillside in low buildings rather than one block, with a dining room serving Indian, Nepali and simple continental food. On clear mornings the range from Kabru to Pandim lines up across the valley, and the garden is the place to watch it.
We use it for families and couples who want private bathrooms, a restaurant on site and a car park at the door, without paying hill-station hotel prices. It is a short drive to Rinchenpong Monastery, the Rabindra Smriti Van park and Kaluk bazaar, and about 1.5 hours to Barsey's trailhead at Hilley if you go via Soreng. Rates move with the season; spring and autumn weekends fill first.
Why we book it
What it does well
- Private rooms, a restaurant and parking without hill-station prices
- Garden terraces facing the Kangchenjunga range
- Central for Kaluk, Rinchenpong and day trips towards Soreng

Questions travellers ask
Questions about Ghonday Village Resort
Where exactly is Ghonday Village Resort?
It is on the Kaluk side of the road below Rinchenpong, in Soreng district, about 32 km from Jorethang and roughly 31 km from Pelling via Gyalshing and Legship. Kaluk bazaar and Rinchenpong are each a few minutes' drive away. Drivers from Jorethang and Pelling know it by name, so you will not need directions.
What does a room at Ghonday Village Resort cost?
As an indicative 2026 band, expect about ₹3,000–5,500 a room a night for two, depending on room type and season, with breakfast sometimes included. October–November, Christmas–New Year and April are the dearest weeks. Check the current rate directly or ask us, since resorts here change prices each season.
Is Ghonday good for a family with grandparents?
Yes, with one caution: the property is on a slope, so some rooms need a short climb. Ask for a room near the dining area and the car park. There is space to sit outdoors, food is served on site, and the drive from Jorethang is about 1.5 hours, which is gentler than the longer roads to Pelling or North Sikkim.
