The Rangpo river rises from lakes in Rongli sub-division, according to Wikipedia, and runs past Rorathang to the Teesta at Rangpo. At Rolep you meet it as a clear, quick river between stones.
Walk with your host or a guide to a safe bank. Keep to the path, watch for slippery stones and stay out of the main channel. In winter, shallow pools are safe for a quick paddle with a local's advice.
Early morning is best for light and birds. Carry water and a hat, and tell someone where you are going. Do not go near the river in or after heavy rain.

Questions travellers ask
Before you book
Is the river safe for swimming?
No, not in the main channel. Water can rise fast after upstream rain, especially from June to September. Paddling in a shallow edge pool in winter can be fine, with a local's advice.
What time is best for the walk?
Early morning for light, quiet and birds. Avoid the heat of the day in summer and avoid the monsoon.
Do we need a guide?
Not strictly, but your host will know safe banks and paths. Ask before you set off.
