Leave Pelling by 8–9 am. The road winds down for about an hour into Dentam's open valley of terraces and dairy farms; stop in the bazaar for milk tea. A few kilometres on, the road reaches the Singshore Bridge. Walk across, take your photographs and continue up through oak and rhododendron forest to Uttarey, at about 2,000 m.
In Uttarey, arrange lunch at a homestay through us or your driver, then walk up to the village's Kagyu monastery or along the first stretch of the forest trail. Start back by about 2 pm to reach Pelling before dark.
The circuit is around 70 km of narrow hill road. A night in Uttarey turns it into a far more relaxed trip, with time for the Mainbus waterfall walk the next morning.

Questions travellers ask
Before you book
Can I see Singshore Bridge and Uttarey in a day from Pelling?
Yes. It is about 70 km of hill road in total, so a full day with an early start. Leave by 8–9 am, stop in Dentam and at the bridge, have lunch in Uttarey and start back by 2 pm. A private car costs indicatively ₹3,000–4,000 for the day.
Is the road to Singshore Bridge and Uttarey good?
It is a narrow, winding hill road, paved for most of its length but with rough patches, especially after the monsoon. Local drivers handle it well. Slides can block it in June to September, and it is best avoided after dark. Check current status before you travel.
Where can I eat on the Dentam–Uttarey drive?
Dentam bazaar has tea shops and small eateries for momos, noodles and thalis. Uttarey has no restaurants, but homestays will cook lunch with notice, indicatively ₹200–350 per person. Carry water and snacks, and tell us the day before so we can book a homestay lunch.
