Below Darap, the Rimbi river runs along the road towards Yuksom. A path through village fields and forest leads down to it in about an hour; your host can show you the start. Near the river are a roadside waterfall and the Sewaro Rock Garden, with paths and pools.
Spend time by the water, then walk back up or catch a shared jeep or arranged car to Darap. The walk down is easy; the walk back up is a steady climb.
Avoid the river in the monsoon, when it runs fast and paths are slippery. In spring and autumn it is a pleasant half day, with birds in the riverside trees.

Questions travellers ask
Before you book
How far is the Rimbi river from Darap?
About an hour's walk down through fields and forest, or a short drive on the Pelling–Yuksom road. The Rimbi waterfall and Sewaro Rock Garden are by the road. Allow 2–3 hours for the round trip on foot.
Can I swim in the Rimbi river?
We advise against it. Mountain rivers in Sikkim are cold, fast and unpredictable, with slippery rocks and sudden rises after rain upstream. Enjoy the water from the bank or paddle only in shallow, calm edges in the dry season.
Is the Rimbi waterfall worth seeing?
It is a pleasant roadside waterfall with a small rock garden, worth a 20–30 minute stop on the way to Yuksom or as the end of a walk from Darap. It is fullest in and just after the monsoon.
