Wikipedia says Rongli Khola and the Rangpo river meet at Rongli, and the Rangpo then flows on towards Pakyong sub-division, Rorathang and Rangpo town. It is one of the main rivers of east Sikkim.

Ask your driver or a local to point to a safe spot, usually near a bridge or lane above the water. Do not go to the edge, and keep away in or after heavy rain, when rivers rise quickly.

Early morning light is best for photographs. Look for dippers and wagtails on rocks. Do not swim, and keep children away from the bank.

Questions travellers ask

Before you book

Which rivers meet at Rongli?

Wikipedia says Rongli Khola and the Rangpo river meet at Rongli. The Rangpo then flows on past Rorathang and joins the Teesta at Rangpo town.

Is the river safe to touch or wade?

Not in the main channel. Water can rise fast after upstream rain, and rocks are slippery. Stay on the bank and keep children close.

Is it worth a stop?

Briefly. It is a quiet spot if you have time while a permit is processed. It is not a major sight. Combine it with the bazaar walk.
