Two nights in the park: Yuksom to Tshoka
A short taste of the park without the full trek: walk from Yuksom through forest above the Prek Chu to Sachen and up to Tshoka at about 3,000 m, then return, with a registered guide, park permit and camping support.

Not everyone has nine days for Goecha La. Many registered agencies in Yuksom offer a shorter walk to Tshoka and back. Day one climbs from Yuksom to Sachen at about 2,200 m through warm broadleaf forest, crossing side streams on bridges above the Prek Chu.
Day two crosses the river near Bakhim and climbs to Tshoka at about 3,000 m, a small trekkers' settlement with a small monastery, and on clear mornings a view of Pandim. In April the rhododendrons around Tshoka flower. Day three is a long descent back to Yuksom.
It still needs a park permit, registration at Yuksom and a licensed guide. Tshoka is high enough to feel the altitude, so walk slowly and drink plenty of water. Check current status before you travel.

Questions travellers ask
Before you book
Can I visit Khangchendzonga National Park without doing the full trek?
Yes. Options include a guided day walk from Yuksom into the forest, a two-night walk to Tshoka and back, or the 5–6 day Dzongri trek. All need a park permit, registration at Yuksom and a registered guide. Check current status before you travel.
How high is Tshoka?
About 3,000 m, roughly 1,200 m above Yuksom. Most fit walkers reach it comfortably in two days via Sachen. Some people feel mild headaches or breathlessness at this height; walk slowly, drink 3–4 litres of water a day and tell your guide if symptoms worsen.
What does a Tshoka walk cost?
Indicatively ₹8,000–14,000 per person for a guided three-day walk with camping, food and park fees, depending on group size and the agency. Transport to Yuksom and your nights there are usually extra. Prices are indicative for 2026; check current status before you travel.
