Two big falls: Kanchenjunga and Phamrong
From a base in Yuksom, see the district's two best-known big waterfalls in one half day: Kanchenjunga Falls on the Pelling road and Phamrong Falls near Tsong village on the Yuksom side, both at their fullest after the monsoon.

The Gyalshing district administration lists two waterfalls among its primary attractions: Kanchenjunga Waterfalls on the Pelling–Yuksom road, and Phamrong Waterfalls, near Tsong village, about 42 km from Gyalshing. If you are staying in Yuksom, both are within reach in half a day by car.
Go from late August to October, when the water is high and the roads have usually reopened after the worst of the monsoon. Start with Kanchenjunga Falls in the morning, before the tour cars from Pelling arrive, then drive to Phamrong, where the setting is quieter and more forested.
Ask your driver about the state of the Phamrong approach before you set out, as conditions change after rain. Check current status before you travel. Wear shoes with grip and carry rain gear.

Before you book
Where is Phamrong waterfall?
The district administration places Phamrong Waterfalls near Tsong village, about 42 km from Gyalshing, on the Yuksom side of the district. It is reached by reserved taxi, and is quieter than Kanchenjunga Falls. Ask your Yuksom host or driver about the current state of the road before going.
Which is better, Kanchenjunga Falls or Phamrong Falls?
Kanchenjunga Falls is easier to reach, right on the main road with steps, cafes and toilets, and fits any Pelling–Yuksom day. Phamrong is quieter and more forested but needs a separate drive. If you see only one, choose Kanchenjunga Falls; if you are staying in Yuksom, try both.
When are waterfalls in West Sikkim at their best?
From July to October, during and just after the monsoon, when flow is highest. September and October are the best balance of strong water and usable roads. From November to May the falls are thinner but the skies are clearer and travel is easier.
