Tea and village life at Damthang trailhead
Finish the Tendong walk in Damthang with tea, a plate of momos or a bowl of noodles at a roadside shop, and a short wander through a village that sits at the junction of the Namchi, Ravangla and Temi roads.
Damthang is a small roadside settlement at about 2,030 m on the road between Namchi and Ravangla. Its shops serve the shared jeeps and the farmers of the slopes around, and they double as the Tendong walkers' café: sweet milky tea, butter tea on request, momos, noodles and biscuits.
After coming down from the hill, sit for a while and watch the jeeps come and go. Ask the shopkeepers about the Tendong festival and the trail; many have walked it every August since childhood. Around the village you see maize, potatoes and cardamom on the slopes, depending on the season.
Expect to spend ₹100–250 per person for a snack and tea. Carry small change and use UPI where possible. If you are taking a shared jeep onward, ask here when the next one is due; shopkeepers know the timings better than any timetable.
