Take a shared jeep from Soreng bazaar to Sombaria, about 16 km, then reserve a local car at the Sombaria stand for the 14 km to Okhrey. Shared vehicles above Sombaria are rare, so do not count on one. Morning departures are best; draw cash in Soreng or Sombaria first, as Okhrey has no ATM we would rely on.
Private car
1–1.5 h · ≈ ₹2,000–2,500 one way
A reserved small car from Soreng takes 1–1.5 hours over about 30 km via Sombaria. It can carry on 8 km to Hilley if you are walking to Barsey. From Rinchenpong, the full run to Okhrey via Soreng is about 48 km and 2.5 hours, about ₹3,000–3,500.
From Siliguri / NJP

Okhrey is about 125 km from Siliguri via Sevoke, Melli, Jorethang and Sombaria; this route bypasses Soreng town. NH10 along the Teesta closes after monsoon slides, when cars go via Kalimpong or Darjeeling. Check current status before you travel.
Fares are indicative. Landslides, snow and check-post timings change journeys: check current status before you travel.
