Mangan, Singhik and the waterfall in one morning
If you spend a night in Mangan, use the next morning for the Singhik viewpoint, the Naga Waterfall and the road to Chungthang. A relaxed way to see this stretch without racing the Toong cut-off.

Wake early at Mangan, and drive about 4 km to the Singhik viewpoint for the first light on Kangchenjunga if the sky is clear. Have tea there, and watch the valley clear as the sun climbs. Return to Mangan for breakfast, then continue north.
The Naga Waterfall lies beyond Singhik, on the road to Toong. Stop for ten to fifteen minutes, take photographs and carry on to the check post, which tourist vehicles must cross by 4:00 pm. With an early start, you reach Chungthang, where the Lachen and Lachung rivers meet, by midday.
This plan needs your registered agent to arrange permits for the day beyond Toong, so tell us when booking. A local taxi for the Singhik and waterfall legs costs roughly ₹1,500 to 2,500, indicative. Check current status before you travel.

Questions travellers ask
Before you book
Is a night in Mangan worth it?
It is worth it if you arrive late in Gangtok, travel with older parents or young children over five, or want an easier pace. It splits the drive and removes the cut-off pressure. For a short 2N/3D trip, most people drive straight through.
How far is the waterfall from Mangan?
Roughly 15 to 20 km by road, about 40 to 50 minutes, though we give this as approximate. Landslides and road work can add time. Ask your driver and check current status before you travel.
Can we do this without a permit?
The stops at Mangan, Singhik and the waterfall are below Toong and need no protected area permit for Indian visitors. The road beyond Toong needs a permit through a registered agent. Check current status before you travel.
