The Sikkim Science Centre at Ranipool is aimed mainly at school groups, with interactive exhibits on physics, the human body, space and the environment. Children can push buttons, pull levers and try simple experiments. Depending on the day, there may be shows or a small planetarium-style programme.
It is not a large museum, and exhibits are basic by big-city standards, but for families with children aged about six to fourteen it fills an hour well, especially when rain rules out viewpoints and walks. Combine it with lunch in Ranipool and a walk in Saramsa Garden if the weather clears.
Opening days and timings change, and the centre may close on some weekdays and public holidays. Check current status before you travel. Entry is cheap, about ₹20–50 per person. A local taxi from Gangtok takes about 30 minutes; shared taxis to Ranipool are frequent.
